Senior Front Office Quant Full Stack Developer

We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.


HSBC is committed to growing its Investment Banking business globally. The main priorities for the Rates and Credit businesses include higher customer coverage through increased participation in ECNs, improved response times on quote requests and, in general, providing traders with better pricing, trading and risk management tools.

The Fixed Income Front Office environment consists of a combination of vendor and in-house components, covering trade pricing, booking and risk management.

The successful candidate will join the Fixed Income Falcon Re-platforming team – Line Pricer/Booking Stream. This is a brand new strategic global trader desktop platform, replacing legacy solutions in use at the moment.

This role requires interaction with business users across multiple departments and the quants team and is an ideal opportunity to improve the candidate’s visibility and profile within HSBC.

The Falcon framework is a state-of-the-art trading and risk application platform utilized across various businesses at HSBC. The framework is designed for scalability, high throughput, responsiveness and availability to meet high standards of the trading desks. Using the latest technologies, applications based on Falcon compete with industry leading solutions in robustness, scalability as well as aesthetics. Falcon applications are quickly evolving at a high release cadence contributed by a large team of developers from across IT.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

  • Be responsible for developing and maintaining the new Line Pricer and Booking Platform as part of a team within the Falcon Framework.
  • Review and Analyse business requirements, proposing relevant solutions
  • Understand, in detail, business requirements for the Fixed Income Flow and Structured desks
  • Ensure successful system deliveries according to agreed timescales
  • Work closely with local and global technology teams, and support functions, with regards to: strategy, operating model, implementation, production support transition and project lifecycle governance
Requirements

Essential Skillset/Experience:


  • Previous experience using:
  • JavaScript (ES7+)
  • ReactJS, Redux
  • Websockets, SSE, REST
  • CSS, Flexbox, Sass
  • Lodash, RxJS
  • Self-motivated and ability to work as an “individual contributor” as well as in a team environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to manage and implement technical solutions
  • Experience of working with Front Office users
  • Positive ‘can do’ attitude
  • Proven ability to communicate with Front Office users, IT colleagues, project managers, architects
  • Local market knowledge of financial service providers, technology service providers, and competitors
  • Ability to work flexibly and take responsibility for varying areas of work as required

The role will be based in London but some travel may be required.
